Q: WHO WILL BE SUMMARIZING MY TRANSCRIPTS?
A: At Legal Discovery Experts, no transcript summary goes out the door without thorough scrutiny and review by one of the founding members of the company. This means that your summary will be written and/or proofread by a lawyer/professional with years of experience in the world of complex litigation and pre-trial discovery — someone who has, in fact, analyzed and summarized a wealth of deposition/hearing/trial transcripts over a span of many years. Furthermore, our team of writers has been put through a careful pre-selection and training process to ensure that they possess superior writing skills, and the ability to efficiently draft clear and concise passages without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
Q: WHAT IS THE STANDARD SUBMISSION PROCESS?
A: You may submit transcripts to our online repository, send us transcripts as an attachment to an email, or mail a hardcopy to: Legal Discovery Experts, 11870 Santa Monica Blvd, Suite 106, Los Angeles, CA 90025. Although electronic submissions are preferred, physical documents are gladly accepted and will not be subject to any additional charges.
Q: WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME FOR RECEIVING MY TRANSCRIPT SUMMARIES?
A: Summaries will be returned within 7-10 days. A rush service (72 hours or less) is available for a slightly higher rate.
Q: WILL TRANSCRIPTS AND SUMMARIES BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?
A: Absolutely. All summarizers have entered into strict confidentiality agreements. Moreover, we gladly welcome confidentiality agreements drafted by clients.
Q: ARE ANY TRANSCRIPTS SENT TO OFFSHORE COMPANIES FOR SUMMARIZING?
A: No. Workers that are outsourced from foreign countries are not bound by the same laws and ethical considerations which serve to protect clients. To ensure that all transcripts and summaries are treated with the strictest confidentiality, and to ensure the highest work quality, we only utilize qualified legal professionals residing in the United States.
Q: DO YOU PROVIDE TRANSCRIPT SUMMARIES TO FIRMS OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA?
A: Yes. We provide our services to all domestic and international law firms and companies.
Q: WHAT WILL A TRANSCRIPT SUMMARY INCLUDE AS FAR AS CONTENT?
A: Our summaries accurately reflect the testimony in complete and well-articulated sentences, without use of abbreviations, contractions or slang. As noted below, our standard summary format contains the following: (1) references to the page and line number(s); (2) the topic(s) discussed; and (3) the summarized testimony. All deposition or trial exhibits will be clearly identified. Also, considerable colloquy, invocations of an evidentiary privilege and instructions not to answer will be noted.
Q: HOW ARE YOUR SUMMARIES FORMATTED?
A: Our standard summary format contains three columns: page/line references; a topic heading and a summary of the testimony.
Q: CAN YOU FOLLOW OUR FIRM/COMPANY'S SUMMARY FORMAT?
A: Yes. Upon request, we will tailor our work product so it conforms to a client’s preferred format.
Q: HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE TRANSCRIPT SUMMARIES?
A: Unless otherwise requested, your deposition summaries will be returned as an email attachment in Word format.
Q: WHICH METHOD OF PAYMENT MAY I USE?
A: Payment by check or money order is due following receipt of invoice. Please make payment to “Legal Discovery Experts.”
